UPDATED: Samsung lawyer slips up
As Apple successfully launches its iPhone 4S phone today, it is also celebrating in US courts as a judge has ruled that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 does infringe on some of Apple’s iPad patents. However, no injunction has been ordered as yet, and there is a question on the validity of some of those patents.

$8.5 billion sale finalised
Microsoft has successfully bought Skype, with the online video calling company becoming a division within the software giant. The $8.5 billion deal to unite the two massive tech organisations was first revealed back in May and approved by the Federal Trade Commission in June, but has only just been officially announced as completed.

As Google confirms 190 Android devices
Google has announced that Ice Cream Sandwich is complete. To honour the achievement it has erected a statue of an Ice Cream Sandwich Android figure at the company’s headquarters in Mountain View.
As it did with the launch of Gingerbread and Android releases before that, Googlers placed the new giant sized moto on the lawn and released a video on YouTube to celebrate.

New date and venue
Samsung and Google will announce the next version of Android and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone (aka Nexus Prime) on Wednesday 19 October.?
The announcement will be made at the start of the AsiaD conference in Hong Kong by Android chief Andy Rubin, which starts on Tuesday.
