Find Out What Data Transfer Method is Best for You

24 July 2010 No Comment

One of the greatest challenges facing computer users is the barriers that are in place when they need to transfer PC files to a new computer. When it comes to transfering over data you have a ton of option and they all carry their own pros and cons. Finding that most users are unaware of the ways to transfer files from one computer to another, many different options have been created to facilitate the migration of information from one PC to another.

One of the first things to do when trying to Transfer Files from Vista to Windows 7 is to figure out what you want to transfer.Making a list and writing down the software programs you want and the files you will need to transfer over is a great way to go.  Don’t write out every document just the basics.  For example do you want all your personal documents, pictures and music? Most of these type of files will be located right under my documents on your user acount or if you are using vista and moving over to Widnows 7 then they will be under your user name.If you want to tranfer over all your personal settings like bookmarks, wallpaper, user accoutn settings then using a data trasnfer software program is a far easier way to go?  What about software profiles like your Outlook mail account.Do you have any software programs that you will need to transfer over becuase you no longer have the disc?

Your Computer to computer file transfer Options are going to depend on what type of answer you gave above.  If you want to transfer over any software programs then you are going to have to purchase data transfer software. It is good practice to alwasy try and install the software you want to use on the new computer first.  This will help to ensure that the data you want to transfer over will import into the program correctly and that the software you are installing onto the system will work for your newer operating system.

If you only have documents, pictures adn music then you have several quick and easy options that are free.Perhaps the easiest for most is doing a data transfer over an existing home netowrk setup.  If not then coping them onto a thumb drive or external driver is the next easiest option.
for those that are not good with computers then you will want to consider purchasing an easy to use data transfer program.  for the money it will make your life that much easier.
